Data encryption and tokenization are both utilized in all digital wallet transactions. Encryption converts information and data into code prior to sending it through shared communication channels. The receiver must have the decryption code to re-assemble the information and data upon receipt. Tokenization replaces an actual account number with a newly assigned virtual account number which is basically useless to anyone who receives it. Only the creator of the tokenization system has the ability to map the virtual number back to its original account number.

How do I make a contactless payment?
After loading your QCB debit card into your digital wallet, hold your device (iPhone, Android, Smart Watch or Tablet) near the terminal’s contactless symbol shown above, approximately 1-2 inches apart. Your device will then prompt you to select the appropriate payment card to complete the transaction. Your device setup screens will allow the establishment of additional layers of security (ie: passcodes or biometric authorizations such as facial recognition or fingerprints) should you choose to implement them. Refer to the help menu in your digital wallet for further details.
